About YA!
Yrkesakademin in Ostrobothnia was formed 1January 2009 as a result of a merger between three schools; Svenska yrkesinstitutet, Korsnäs Kurscenter and Vocana.YA! offers permanent education in Kristinestad, Närpes, Korsnäs, Vasa, Nykarleby, Pedersöre and Jakobstad.
Yrkesakademin in Ostrobothnia has about 300 employees and 2500 students. The Federation of Swedish Ostrobothnia for Education and Culture owns and maintains the school.
Yrkesakademin in Ostrobothnia is led by a board which is responsible for operations and activities. It consists of 9 members and 1 teacher representative, 1 representative for the other staff and 2 student representatives. The board is appointed for a 4- year period and its members are chosen by the co-municipal board of The Federation of Swedish Ostrobothnia for Education and Culture.
A guiding body for YA is the advisory body for working life which is also appointed for a 4-year period and this is appointed by the board of YA. The purpose of the advisory body is to strengthen the vocational skills, the competitiveness and prosperity of the region.
