Internationell utvecklingsverksamhet

These days, international knowledge sharing is a prerequisite to be able to offer a qualitative and competitive education, which is of benefit to the YA – Vocational College of Ostrobothnia, to the employment market and to the region’s trade and industry. YA has a network of international contacts and a number of international projects with ties to its fields of education. YA is constantly working to develop its operations, improve the quality of its educational programmes and test new learning methods. Through mobility projects, such as BOOSTING Competencies (BOOSTing), YA is able to promote knowledge sharing in cooperation with other European vocational training institutions.

YA’s objective is to strengthen competencies and skills through the exchange of knowledge, international and intercultural experiences as well through the establishment of the Educational programme which offers active learning at YA. The same applies to ECVET routines (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training) with the events surrounding the mobility periods and a focus on learning outcomes obtained in other countries or contexts. YA wants to protect and assign a value to the knowledge the student already has.

In 2011 YA adopted an educational programme entitled ACTIVE LEARNING to create opportunities for students to achieve their individual goals. Active learning is based on competencies that are important for personal development, for personal success and for lifelong learning. These competencies are similar to those that we often believe an entrepreneur needs to succeed, for example, a strong will, motivation, initiative, a sense of responsibility and the ability to cooperate with others, etc.

A period of on-the-job learning abroad is an excellent way for students to develop and strengthen their language skills, self-esteem and motivation at the same time as it raises their professional skills and increases their cultural awareness.

At YA, international services is responsible for international operations which include both student development and student exchanges. For further information, contact YA’s International Coordinator Susanna Vestling or International Secretary Linda Wester.
